Booth Set Up & Selling Your Art

Hello again!
We just finished our second show of the year (as full time artists), and boy did we learn a lot.
The change from part time artist/full time mom to full time everything has been a kick in the butt, honestly.
But it has been so rewarding in many ways.
We are not experts, but I wanted to share some things that I know have helped me as an artist and tips
that I have learned along the way from other artists/vendors/friends
(You know who you are, so thank you for sharing your knowledge!).

So lets talk what you need to sell at a show.
That can be a local art show, market, renaissance faire, expo, parking lot haha.
Anywhere you’re setting up!

★Table & Tent : every show is going to have different rules and regulations, so when you sign up definitely make sure
to clarify what you’re allowed to do. So far, for regular art shows things are pretty simple, sometimes you don’t even need a tent if its indoors!
For renaissance festivals, most want a period/medieval tent, these can be a little pricy, so a regular 10x10 canopy “dressed up” are accepted at some.
Basically, just hide all metal/plastic on tent and make it look of the time.
★Display: Your display can be simple and unique! For every show I usually tweak a few things, but overall it stays the same. A good sign of your name or logo is a necessity for sure. People want to know who you are and what you sell.
Height will be your best friend. Think about the customers eye level and how you can organize your product using pegboards, racks, crates, etc.
You want your customers to be able to look through everything with ease, don’t have everything you made on the table!
For example, If you have 10 sets of coasters, exhibit 5 and have the rest as back stock.
Last tip on display would be decorations. 90% of what I use is thrifted.
All of these table cloths, wall hangings, etc. are going to end up dirty at some point, so why spend a ton of money on new decor.
Also, your booth will look different! You want to stand out and look inviting.
★Branding: This one is important to me! not everyone focuses on this.
I’ve always liked my color palette, logo and overall look of my business to be cohesive.
Whether that be a banner, nice business card, or qr codes that lead people to my website or emailing list.
Unified branding has always helped me maintain customers.
★Payment: This one is simple. Have all the forms of payment. I use square for card sales,
but there are a lot of cool options now available with website companies, I’ve heard a lot of good things about shopify pos.
I used paypal pos for a bit and I prefer square over it.
Have cash, depending on the popularity of the show, I bring a ton of change. I also offer cashapp and venmo. All of this info is on a qr code sign, where I bag my orders.
★Pricing: My prices range from $3 to over $4k, there is something for everyone, all budgets are different. Don’t assume that you’ll only sell your cheaper items, because there will be a customer that falls in love with an art piece that CAN afford that price.
★Demonstrations: If you have the time and help, demonstrating your art brings in people! I’ll bring my wood burner if I have access to electricity, and if I don’t, it’s my husband’s turn. He’ll carve or whittle towards the front of the booth and everyone loves watching him.
★Packaging: This one is also, optional! I use reusable/kraft bags with my logo on them.
It’s better for the earth and people see the bags as they are walking around the show.
People want to buy what others buy haha.
Just how it works and gets people talking!
★Commissions: You can have a sign up sheet or have something that leads them to a form (your website).
It’s always good to show customers what you can do for them at a later time.
They’ll remember and return to you in the future.
★Snacks & Water: This one might seem obvious, but people forget! You won’t have time to go get food or wait in a line, so just make sure to stay hydrated. I bring 2 cooler bags. I also can’t forget because my children would kill me. 💀
★Insurance & Permits: Not mandatory at all shows, but for some!
You’ll need business insurance, sellers permit, fire extinguisher just for safety regulations.
If you don’t know if you need it, just email the event coordinator.
Better to be prepared, then to get to your show and not be allowed to sell.

I hope this helps! As I learn new things I will update this blog.
Sending lots of love and success your way.

Here We Go

So I am starting this little space on my website to dedicate to my stories, my thoughts, my process and to just document the growth of Reinamor.

Hi Friends!

So I am starting this little space on my website to dedicate to my stories, my thoughts, my process and to just document the growth of Reinamor.
While social media has been great, there’s also some down falls to it: the worry about engagement, the tailored captions, the planning of edited reels and beautiful feed.
You get what I’m saying
Well on here, I dont have to worry much. I want to share what I love, my process and maybe through that journey some of you might get some tips that will help you as well. Who knows!? but cheers to 2024 and new things!

I started this year a little bit different.
Reinamor Art is not only me anymore! my husband has joined and is now creating his art. He wrote a little about what he does here. So you’ll be seeing his creations pop up.

We are traveling this year to different renaissance faires and events, and what a month it has been!
Tip: If your are planning on making art full time through local events…sign up for all of them and see what sticks!
I know… change is scary. Just do it!
We are doing all of the shows and traveling
with the kiddos. And let me tell ya… that is no joke! Haha.
Between inventory, social media, planning, packing, meals and hotels, I definitely shed some tears.

I know it’ll all be worth it.
I’ll keep posting updates on our new adventures both personal and art related!

If you made it this far… thanks for reading!
Leave me a comment below if you want me to write about anything (life, business, wood burning), whatever you want!
